Instructors

An instructor in Troop 26 is expected to be a relatively technical expert in the areas for which they are certified.  They must hold the merit badge(s) relative to that skill (exceptions may be made for extremely qualified scouts) and must demonstrate to the responsible scoutmaster their abilities in that area.  The position of instructor counts as an leadership position for all ranks that require leadership including Eagle.  To receive leadership credit for the Instructor position the scout must train and pass off at least two scouts during the leadership period and must conduct at least one 20 minute training session in at least one of their instructor skill areas during the same period.  All scouts in Troop 26 who are 1st Class and above are expected to become a certified Instructor in at least one instructor skill area.  They may become certified in as many areas as they would like.
