Order of the Arrow

Saturday night, 5 members of Troop 26 were initiated into the Order of the Arrow.  Daniel, Alex, Scotty, Nicolo, Travis and the Scoutmaster, me, were honored to go through our ordeal.   It was certainly a long day, little food, and plenty of work in silence, and that’s partly why they call it an “ordeal”.   I believe this ordeal has help us become better scouts.  I am proud of our scouts for their hard work and good attitudes.

Here is the purpose of the Order of the Arrow:

  • To recognize those campers — Scouts and Scouters — who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and by such recognition cause other campers to conduct themselves in such manner as to warrant recognition.
  • To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.
  • To promote Scout camping, which reaches its greatest effectiveness as a part of the unit’s camping program,. Both year-round and in the summer camp, as directed by the camping committee of the Council.
  • To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.

More information can be gathered from the packet that was given or you can visit the lodge website.  Also, a few pictures can be found here.

Congratulations Scouts!
